Oriental Seasons
Altar Box

by Lady Malice

This gorgeous piece has quite a story behind it. She was originally started in the summer of '05. When Hurricane Katrina unleashed her fury upon us here on the Gulf Coast she destroyed thousands of homes, mine being one of them. My work shop was trashed and flooded. This unfinished piece was one of only 2 "works in progress" I was able to salvage from the wreckege. She was a little battered but I was able to completely clean her up and recently got her finished. Shortly after the storm, I found the remains of what had been an old Oriental jewelry box, while walking on what was left of our beach. I salvaged the beautiful brass hardware from it and added them to this box, as it seemed only fitting. She truely is a One-of-a-Kind.

In the center is a beautiful Chinese depiction of 2 swallows fluttering around a branch of cherry blossoms. The four corners are adorned with the Chinese symbols for the four seasons, and it features a simple decorative border. The remainder of the box has been stained with a walnut poly-stain and accented with the recycled brass hardware.

This piece is available now, and due to the uniquness of the hardware, it will NEVER be recreated. She truely is One-of-a-kind!
